Day off today

Today was a day off, I have to work Saturday though. Today is the first day my feet stopped hurting. I was able to get my car fixed, the part came in and it was installed today. Now my car shifts like nobodys business! AND it stays in gear. I also did a little laundry and did some crafty things. Oh yeah, paid some bills. Pictures of crafty stuff when the glue dries!

happenings and whatnot

I have a few work stories I'm just dying to tell, but once again I'm paranoid of my safety. Remind me to tell ya when I see you.

For my out of town friends who don't hear about news around here, there was a massive house explosing right down the street where we went to school. It was suspected it was a gas leak. The woman and her husband were fighting, so she left that night and took her daughter. The other daughter was staying with a friend. The man died. My mom and I went shopping Saturday, and she mentioned she heard a loud boom, so she went to check on my dad. She wanted to make sure he didn't fall out of bed or anything like that. He was away and at his computer, and just looked at her, "what?". Then after I dropped her off, their neighbor asked if my parents heard the loud boom. I told him yeah, actually they did. He told me about the house explosion on Lakeview. I ran back in the house and told my mom, so we hopped in the car to take a gawk. Oh. My. God. There would be no way anybody walking outside the house would have survived, let alone inside. It was leveled and charred. There was a hand mixer dangling by the cord in a tree. A KitchenAid Pro Line waffle maker in the pile, in a few different pieces. Glass, insulation, shingles everywhere. Buildings in every direction had windows blown out, except the one that was the farthest away, the siding was just melted on the 2nd floor. I wanted to take pictures, especially of the hand mixer in the tree. I lost the urge to go back when I heard someone died. It just didn't seem right.

I Ain't Playin'

Work is going good now that I've found ways to keep busy. Keeping busy not getting wrote up. If you get wrote up once between reviews, you don't get any raises. I don't plan on keeping the same wage forever, so I'm trying extra hard. Only problem is that it's too easy to get wrote up. One chore I have to do is mop the floor around my work area, and if you use too much water and it leaves streaks, you get wrote up. If you have your shirt untucked, you get wrote up. If it takes you longer than three rings to answer the phone, you get wrote up. I went from "just do your little piss-assed job" to total fascism. I wanted supervision in my job, but holy crap. This is insane! My boss, I get along with. It must be nice being boss. Whenever she don't feel up do working, she just slips away. It gets better! Then she re-writes the schedule as if she wasn't scheduled to work. I swear I can't make this stuff up! When she comes up missing, it's alright. There are people in close contact I can ask stuff. Like I said, I get along with her, but it's better when she's gone for a while. She goes into rants about employees that she had arguments with, re-hashes it six different times, and always ends it with "I ain't playin'". Lord. If I hear that one more time I'm gonna stab someone with a dull object.

Today was better

No employees fighting with the manager. That was good. Did a few things on the checklist today to keep busy. That was good too. Everybody has a checklist of stuff to do during the day to keep the workplace clean. I guess I'll go back tomorrow.

Here I Go Again

Drumroll please!
AAaaaannndd Smack hand against forehead.
Head against wall.

I sat for 8 hours today while everyone was too busy to train me. Easy money, yeah, but I'd rather be home. First thing I walk into this morning is the manager (girl who hired me) getting into an argument with another employee. Apparantly she can hire people, but she can't fire them. And it looks like you can get away with anything short of murder. I guess that's kind of comforting. Then when it was time to leave another employee's boyfriend came to pick a fight. Crazy. Maybe I should start thinking of writing my will and final wishes in case someone starts shooting.

I heard there are kiosks in Wal-Marts where you can buy Humana health insurance. I had them a long time ago and I thought they were very good. I will have to check into that. If it costs anything like what I was paying through the agency, I will get health insurance again.

All I had to do is ask

I got a job.
Husband's friend who is getting married's fiancee asked me to do their flowers a while ago. Then I heard nothing. When I asked Monday, she said all she needed was pew bows. I looked several places and could not find them. So I called her at work this morning, and she said where they had them, and if I could pick some up. And jellybeans for the favors on the tables. Then I asked if there were any jobs where she works as a manager, and she said yeah, come on down and fill out papers! Like I was already hired! For my safety of course, I will not say where and what here.

Anyway, I've been thinking for a long time that I would like to do wedding flowers for a side job. I saw what her sister did, and they were really nice. I just know in my heart I can do better. We have friends who have their own landscaping and snowplowing business, and the girl just started her own bookkeeping business. I will see what I can be tutored about starting a business.

Busy Weekend Ahead

Thursday: Take car to get fixed.
Damn thing keeps popping out of gear.

Friday: Husband's friend is getting married.
Don't do it, man!

Saturday: Friend's divorce/dildo party
You read right.

Sunday: Easter dinner at the Parent's.

I looked on the website where I'm required to post a resume online if I want Unemployment, and there were a few jobs on there that I want to apply for. Only problem is that all of them are through an agency, the route I've been avoiding with a passion. I'm pretty sure I'm going to sign up. Would it be too much if I ask "I don't want to work for assholes and is there supervision?". It's been my experience, "The cat's away, and the mice always take advantage of the temp".
Jeez!

still no job

As I toured the warehouse facility with the HR person last week, I thought, "this is too good to be true". And it was.

My art get-together Sunday went without a hitch. The house is still clean. Yesterday I went to the hospital to check their employment board. No jobs there, either. Maybe because I've been down this path a few times, I don't have that awful feeling of despair I usually have after a while without a job. I really should, but I don't. A bit complacent, hmmm?

I went to lunch with my parents yesterday, and today my mom wanted to go to the new Panera Bread. It was good, and surprisingly there was a place to sit. Tonight is hot wing night at the Moose.
